My first visit to Greenland was unforgettable!
Icebergs so big, it is hard to decribe. Fjords as beautiful as in Norway. Cristal clear rivers, with wild sea run arctic char. No fishing pressure AT ALL!
Not to forget the colors of the arctic char: silver, silver with yellow, green with yellow, green with grey, orange with silver, orange with red, completely red…..
Here are some pics to give you an impression of fly fishing in Greenland. BTW: I concentrated on the Southern Region of the Island.
- Beautiful blue Iceberg
- It is hard to show on a picture how impressive these Icebergs are…..
- It is very hard to travel by bike in Greenland, because there are hardly any roads….
- I used a Vaude Mark III tent to live in
- Wilderness fishing
- A fresh run Arctic Char, straight from the ocean
- Pink is magic
- What a colors on this beauty!!
- Tools to get food
- The gear
- Say no more…..
- I needed a farmer to cross a huge glacial river
- and payed the farmer with two fish
- Very deep into the canyon – dangerous fishing grounds, because of the stones
- and there is fish!
- even BIG ones 🙂
- Same valley, closer to the sea
- A bonus was hidden inside this little fish!
- Protein – just what I needed most
- Fresh from mother nature
- Sashimi form arctic char – it does not get any better.
- Time to visit a new valley
- and climb to a glacier
